PDO Mono-Threads

PDO Mono Threads

PDO Mono Threads are the latest revolutionary treatment helping to firm and tighten skin, giving you a natural and youthful look.

PDO Mono Threads originated in Korea and have been a popular treatment for those who want tightening of the skin without surgical intervention.

What are PDO Mono Threads?

The threads are made from Polydioxanone which is an absorbent polymer, (the same material used in dissolvable sutures). They are a flexible & durable thread that is inserted into the face or body stimulating the formation of collagen around the thread, giving support to the tissues. These threads are smooth and made without barbs, they are not intended to lift the face, but rather tighten the skin.

What do they do?

The threads cause a stimulation of collagen production which creates a tightening effect, which can last between 6 - 12 months. The result is the skin becomes tighter and more firm, with less sagging and loose skin.

PDO Mono Threads are great for tightening, improving the texture and thickening the skin. Its a great option for someone who doesn't want a frozen look or still requires full movement, but wants to remove signs of ageing. It is also good for patients that have a fuller face that do not want to add volume with fillers but rather tighten the skin.

Where can they be used?

PDO Mono Threads can be used across various places on the face & body. Currently Privée offers them in the face & neck region.

  • Marionette Lines
  • Forehead/brows
  • Upper/lower cheeks
  • Jawline/Neck
  • Nasolabial (nose to mouth lines)
  • Peri-oral Region

What happens during the treatment?

A topical anesthetic will be applied to the area prior to treatment. The PDO Mono threads are inserted into the area requiring tightening using a small needle to introduce the thread.

The needle is then removed and the thread remains in place and will stay in place for about 6 months before it dissolves.  The thread is inserted into the area where collagen production is desired. Your injector will work closely with you to achieve optimal results.

The treatment will last about 30 - 60 minutes of treatment depending on the area.

Are there any contraindications?

PDO Threads are not recommened for those who:

  • Autoimmune Disease
  • Pregnancy
  • Prone to keloid Scarring
