Fat-Dissolving Injections

Say goodbye to your double chin! Fat-dissolving injections are a non-surgical treatment used for getting rid of small, stubborn deposits of fat that are difficult to shift with diet and exercise.

These painless injections work via a solution that is injected into the subcutaneous layer of the skin. The solution breaks down the fat cell membrane, the fat leaks out and is taken to the liver via the lymphatics where it is metabolised and then eliminated from the body. Once the fat cell has been destroyed, it is gone forever.

What is it?

Fat-dissolving injections are made of a solution of liquid lecithin derived from soya beans. It has been used therapeutically for over 15 years. The treatment was first used in 1995 by Dr Rittes a Brazilian physician.

What areas of the body can it be used on?

Any small area of fat on the body can be treated. But the following are commonly treated areas:

Cheeks
Double Chin
Jowls
Axillary fold
Iliac Crest
Love Handles
Gluteal Banana
Buttocks
Saddle Bags
Inner and Outer Thighs
Under and Upper Belly
Upper arm
Knee

How many treatments are required?

It is recommended to have at least 2 treatments spaced approx 1 month apart for maximum results. Individual results vary and more treatments may be needed.

What are the potential side effects?

The normal side effects that can be expected are swelling and warmth at the injection site, bruising, tenderness and sensitivity to pressure and pain in the treated area.

Are there any contraindications?

Pregnancy, breastfeeding, children, diabetic or vascular disease, liver or renal disease, auto-immune disease, allergy to soy beans, coagulation defects, acute and chronic infection.
